If you’re struggling with TikTok LIVE Studio problems, LS Doctor is a ChatGPT plugin I built using years of experience troubleshooting TikTok LIVE Studio.

It can help diagnose problems with your microphone, audio, stream quality, LIVE Studio settings and more. You can describe your problem, provide screenshots or recordings, and continue chatting with LS Doctor until you find the cause.

Here’s how to set it up and get the best results.

Step 1: Get a ChatGPT Account

You’ll need a ChatGPT account to use LS Doctor.

If you don’t already have one, head to ChatGPTĀ and create an account.

If you already have an account, you can skip this step.

Step 2: Download the ChatGPT Desktop App

LS Doctor can be accessed through ChatGPT, but for the setup demonstrated in this tutorial, I recommend using the ChatGPT desktop app.

Download it here:

The current ChatGPT desktop app is available on both Windows and macOS and includes access to Codex.

Install the correct version for your computer and sign in with your ChatGPT account.

Step 3: Switch to Codex

Open the ChatGPT desktop app.

If the sidebar is hidden, use the sidebar toggle in the top-left corner to display it.

Next, use the selector near the top-left of the app and switch from ChatGPT to Codex.

Codex is the part of the desktop app used in this tutorial because, where Computer Use is supported and enabled, it can interact with applications running on your computer.

OpenAI confirms that Computer Use can process screenshots and interact with supported desktop workflows, although availability varies.

Step 4: Enable Computer Use

Click your profile or name near the bottom-left corner of the ChatGPT desktop app, then open Settings.

In the version demonstrated in the video, go to the relevant IntegrationsĀ or Computer UseĀ settings and enable access to the applications you want Codex to inspect.

This is what allows LS Doctor to look at TikTok LIVE Studio directly when Computer Use is available.

Important:Ā Computer Use availability depends on your plan, account and region.

If Computer Use isn’t available to you, you can still use LS Doctor by describing your problem and uploading screenshots or other useful information manually.

Step 5: Install the LS Doctor Plugin

Now install LS Doctor.

You can open it directly using the link below while signed into ChatGPT:

Alternatively, open PluginsĀ from ChatGPT and search for LS Doctor.

Open the plugin and install it.

OpenAI’s Plugin directory is currently available through ChatGPT web and the ChatGPT desktop app, although whether a particular plugin can be installed or used can depend on your plan, workspace settings and region.

Step 6: Start a Chat with LS Doctor

Once LS Doctor is installed, there are a couple of ways to start using it.

You can create a new chat and select or mention LS DoctorĀ before typing your question.

Alternatively, open Plugins, find LS Doctor under your installed plugins and launch it from there.

If ChatGPT pre-fills a prompt for you, replace it with a description of your actual TikTok LIVE Studio problem unless the suggested prompt already matches what you need.

Step 7: Describe Your TikTok LIVE Studio Problem in Detail

The more information you give LS Doctor, the easier it is to diagnose your issue.

For example, don’t just write:

ā€œMy microphone isn’t working.ā€

Explain exactly what is happening, when it started and what you’ve already tried.

A better prompt would be something like:

ā€œMy microphone is showing in TikTok LIVE Studio, but viewers can’t hear me. I’ve checked the microphone selection and restarted LIVE Studio already. Can you help me find the problem?ā€

You can use the same approach for dropped frames, stream quality, encoder settings, camera problems, audio issues or almost anything else inside TikTok LIVE Studio.

Step 8: Add Screenshots or Recordings

Screenshots can make troubleshooting much easier.

On Windows, you can use the Snipping Tool to capture the relevant section of TikTok LIVE Studio.

Once you’ve taken the screenshot, paste or upload it directly into your conversation with LS Doctor.

Try to capture the part of TikTok LIVE Studio that relates to the problem. For example, if you have a microphone issue, show your LIVE Studio audio settings rather than an unrelated ChatGPT window.

You can also provide recordings or other useful files if they help demonstrate the problem.

Step 9: Keep TikTok LIVE Studio Open

If you have access to Computer Use, I recommend keeping TikTok LIVE Studio open while troubleshooting.

This gives LS Doctor the best opportunity to inspect the relevant settings and identify anything that looks wrong.

It can still help without LIVE Studio being open, particularly if you provide good screenshots and a detailed explanation, but giving it as much context as possible will usually produce a more useful diagnosis.

Step 10: Choose a Thinking Level

Depending on your ChatGPT account, you may have different reasoning or thinking options available.

You generally don’t need the maximum setting for basic TikTok LIVE Studio troubleshooting.

For straightforward problems, a lower thinking level should usually be enough. If you have a particularly complicated issue, increasing the thinking level can give ChatGPT more reasoning capacity to work through it.

Once everything is ready, send your message.

What Can LS Doctor Help With?

LS Doctor can help investigate a wide range of TikTok LIVE Studio problems.

For example, you could ask it to inspect your current audio setup for potential issues. It may identify something simple, such as an incorrect microphone level, and then walk you through the next change or test.

You can also ask questions such as:

  • ā€œInspect my TikTok LIVE Studio audio for potential issues.ā€

  • ā€œWhat quality settings should I use for my current setup?ā€

  • ā€œWhy is my microphone not working in TikTok LIVE Studio?ā€

  • ā€œWhy am I dropping frames?ā€

  • ā€œCan you check my LIVE Studio settings for anything unusual?ā€

  • ā€œWhat should I change next to troubleshoot this problem?ā€

The important part is to keep the conversation going.

If the first suggestion doesn’t solve the issue, tell LS Doctor what happened after you tried it and ask what you should test next.

Treat the troubleshooting process like a conversation rather than expecting one prompt to solve every problem.

Still Having TikTok LIVE Studio Problems?

If LS Doctor can’t resolve your problem, you can also join the unofficial TikTok LIVE Studio Discord server.

The community includes experienced LIVE Studio users and has also had participation from TikTok staff.

Between LS Doctor, screenshots of your setup and the LIVE Studio community, you should have several ways to narrow down even unusual TikTok LIVE Studio problems.

Final Thoughts

LS Doctor is designed to make TikTok LIVE Studio troubleshooting much easier.

Instead of searching through dozens of tutorials whenever something goes wrong, you can describe your exact setup and problem, provide screenshots, and work through the diagnosis step by step.

For the best results, provide as much detail as possible, keep TikTok LIVE Studio open where Computer Use is available, share relevant screenshots, and continue following up with LS Doctor until you’ve isolated the problem.
