In this guide, Iāll show you how to create an alert for new gifts on your TikTok LIVE stream using TikControl. This lets you display an on-screen message whenever someone sends a gift, and you can also make the alert read out loud with text-to-speech.
TikControl can be used for this for free, but if you upgrade to a paid tier, you can support my work and get a discount using code HARRY.
You can download TikControl here: https://geni.us/tikcontrol
Step 1: Open TikControl And Check Your TikTok Account
Start by opening TikControl.
Before creating the alert, click Settings, then go to Account. Under the TikTok login section, double-check that the correct TikTok account is connected and logged in.
This is important because your alerts need to be connected to the TikTok account you will actually be streaming from.
Step 2: Create A New Gift Alert Action
Next, click AlertsĀ at the top of TikControl, then click Actions.
TikControl uses a three-step setup process. The first step is creating a new action, so click New Action.
Give the action a clear name, such as:
New Gift
Then choose how long the alert should appear on screen. For example, you could set the duration to 5 seconds.
You can leave the screen set to Screen 1Ā unless you are using multiple alert screens.
Step 3: Choose What Happens When The Alert Triggers
In the action settings, choose what should happen when someone sends a gift.
For a basic gift alert, enable:
Alert
Text to Speech
The alert controls what appears on screen, while text-to-speech controls what gets read out loud.
Step 4: Create The On-Screen Gift Message
In the alert text box, create the message that will appear on screen when someone sends a gift.
You can use TikControlās variables to automatically insert details from the gift event.
A useful message format is:
[username] thanks for [repeat count] [gift name]!
To build this, click the variables inside TikControl instead of typing them manually. Add:
Username.Ā Then type: thanks for.Ā Then add: Repeat Count.Ā Then add: Gift Name
This means the alert can show something like:
Harry thanks for 10 roses!
The preview inside TikControl is useful for checking the layout, but in some cases the preview may not show the real gift name correctly. When you are actually live, the alert should use the real gift name.
Step 5: Customise The Alert Appearance
After setting the message, scroll down to the appearance settings.
You can customise the font, size, and other styling options. A good setup is to make the main text, placeholders, and user text the same font size so the alert looks consistent.
Adding a text border can also make the alert easier to read on stream. For example, you could use a 2 pixel black text borderĀ so the message stands out against your TikTok LIVE background.
Step 6: Add Text-To-Speech
If you want the gift alert to be read out loud, copy your alert message and paste it into the Text to SpeechĀ section.
This allows the same message that appears on screen to be spoken aloud.
For example, the text-to-speech could say:
Harry thanks for 10 roses!
Then choose a voice from the available voice list. You can scroll through the options and pick whichever voice fits your stream best.
You can also adjust any extra voice settings if needed.
Once you are happy with the action, enable Run SequentiallyĀ if you want the alerts to play one after another instead of overlapping.
Then click Save.
Step 7: Create The Gift Event
Now move to the second step: creating the event that triggers the alert.
Go to Events, then click New Event.
Set the audience to All.
For the type, choose Minimum Diamonds Gift.
If you want the alert to trigger for every gift, set the minimum diamond value to 1. If you only want higher-value gifts to trigger the alert, increase this number.
Under Actions, choose the action you just created, such as New Gift.
You do not need to randomise anything for this setup.
Click Save.
Step 8: Copy Your TikControl Screen Link
Your alert is now created inside TikControl, but it still needs to be added to your streaming software.
Go to ScreensĀ inside TikControl.
Find Screen 1Ā and click Copy.
This copies the browser link for your alert screen. You will add this link to your streaming software.
Step 9: Add The Alert To TikTok LIVE Studio
Open TikTok LIVE Studio.
Click Add Source.
In TikTok LIVE Studio, choose the source called Link. In other software, such as OBS Studio, Streamlabs, or Meld Studio, this is usually called a Browser Source.
Paste the TikControl screen link into the source URL box.
If you are using text-to-speech or sound, make sure audio is enabled for the source.
You may also need to adjust the custom resolution until the alert looks right on your stream. Once it appears on screen, you can drag it into position and place it wherever you want the gift alert to show.
Step 10: Test The Gift Alert
To test the alert, go back to the action you created in TikControl.
Next to the action name, click the PlayĀ button.
This will trigger a test version of the alert. If you enabled text-to-speech, it should also play the spoken message.
Check your streaming software to make sure the alert appears in the right place, looks readable, and plays correctly.
Once it looks good, your TikTok LIVE gift alert is ready to use.
