6 Multistreaming Methods

Writer's picture: HarryHarry

Here are 6 ways to simulcast (also called multistreaming or multicasting).

1: TikTok LIVE Studio and OBS

LIVE Studio typically requires 1-10k TikTok followers. Both are free.

OBS

Start by setting up OBS. Run through the auto setup to make a Twitch, YT or Kick stream. If you're setting up Kick then your stream key is here.

If you already have OBS hit profile > new and run the auto config.

Make a new scene called "gameplay" or whatever you are doing.

Add the OBS following sources:

  1. Display capture - shows your computer screen.

  2. Video capture device - adds your camera.

  3. Audio input capture - adds your mic.

  4. Audio output capture - adds your computer audio.

Add whatever else you want then click "Start Virtual Camera" in the bottom right.

LIVE Studio

Now open LS and run through the auto setup.

In the bottom left make a new scene and choose "blank". Now add a new source and choose the camera option. The camera you want is the "OBS Virtual Camera". Set it to 1920x1080 60fps. Once it's added you might have to click on it and click the stretch button to make it full-screen.

The only step left is to press the audio settings button and add your mic and speakers to LS.

Now your TikTok viewers and YT/Twitch/Kick viewers will see exactly the same thing!

2: Streamlabs Ultra

This method is fantastic because it uses the least amount of computing power and the least amount of upload speed. You can also stream to 7 different platforms!

This is a paid method. Use my affiliate link to get up to $10 off your first month: https://geni.us/StreamlabsUltra

Using this link also supports my work. 🙏

  1. Download Streamlabs Ultra from the link above.

  2. Click the settings cog and click "Stream" and link all your streaming accounts. If you're stuck then do it from here instead.

  3. Reload Streamlabs.

  4. Add some sources. I recommend display capture, video capture device and your microphone and computer audio.

Then just hit "go live" and you can now stream to 7 different platforms from one client using one upload stream!

3: Aitum Vertical Plugin (OBS)

The Aitum Vertical Plugin uses one version of OBS to stream to two platforms: one landscape stream (YouTube, Kick etc) and one vertical stream (TikTok etc).

Close OBS and run the plugin's installer then reopen OBS.

Run through the OBS auto setup. If you already have OBS hit profile > new and run the auto config.

Make a new scene called "gameplay" or whatever you are doing.

Now simply set up some sources in regular OBS:

  1. Display capture - shows your computer screen.

  2. Video capture device - adds your camera.

  3. Audio input capture - adds your mic.

  4. Audio output capture - adds your computer audio.

Then repeat that process with your vertical scenes and sources.

If you can't see the Aitum Vertical scenes and sources then click Docks and click on all the docks that say "Vertical".

Right-click your Vertical scenes and choose the link option to link them with your landscape scenes.

For example, you can link your gameplay landscape/vertical and then link your just chatting landscape/vertical scenes. Now if you switch back and forth between your landscape gameplay and chatting scenes, the vertical scenes will auto-switch!

The settings cog next to your vertical display is where you input your stream key.

4: Web Browser Streaming

Purchase Streamlabs Talk Studio via Streamlabs Ultra for $10 off - https://geni.us/StreamlabsUltra

Restream - up to $10 off - https://restream.io/join/Z6XMw6

StreamYard - up to $10 off - https://geni.us/HarryStreamYard

Web browser streaming is the simplest way to multistream. Streamlabs literally lets you stream to unlimited platforms for $19/month. The other options above cost more.

Web browser streaming is best for "just chatting" styles of stream, podcasts and any stream where you simply plan to use one camera.

You can also easily bring in guests to Streamlabs Talk Studio just by sending them a link.

These platforms all have great onboarding processes which will set the stream up for you. Support my work with the affiliate links above!

5: Multiple OBS Clients

Did you know you can open as many OBS clients as you want?

In Windows/Mac search just keep typing in "OBS" and clicking on it. You'll get a warning but just click "launch anyway".

Screenshot saying that OBS is already running.

I recommend using a 6 Mbps upload speed. So every new version of OBS you open will add 6 Mpbs. Each new version will also add some extra strain to your computer.

You'll need a gaming laptop or a good desktop computer to use 3 or more OBS while streaming and gaming.

During the setup phase ONLY HAVE ONE OBS OPEN! If you open multiple OBS while setting everything up then you will lose the settings in all but one version.

Start by making profiles for each streaming service. Hit profile > new and type in the name of each platform (Twitch, YouTube, Kick etc).

Run the auto-config wizard but don't let it estimate bitrate. Instead, set the bitrate to 6,000 kbps. If you set up a TikTok vertical profile then additionally click on settings > video and change resolution to 1080x1920.

Once you have all profiles set up, make some scenes. Keep only one version of OBS open until done. Make a "landscape gameplay" and "vertical gameplay" if streaming on TikTok. Make any other scenes you want.

Now add sources to your scenes. The main four are:

  1. Display capture - shows your computer screen.

  2. Video capture device - adds your camera.

  3. Audio input capture - adds your mic.

  4. Audio output capture - adds your computer audio.

Now your profiles, scenes and sources are set up you can open all versions of OBS. For each version of OBS select a new profile (Kick, Rumble, Trovo, TikTok etc).

On the first version you opened, start the OBS Virtual Camera so that you can use your camera on every version of OBS. You can add the OBS VC as a Video Capture Device to all other versions of OBS.

6: My Personal Method

The method I am personally using is a more complex mixture of Streamlabs Ultra, Aitum and OBS. This lets me stream to 8 different platforms!

Get $10 off Streamlabs Ultra by using my affiliate link above. 🙏

I begin by setting up OBS and Aitum. Follow section 3 for that!

Once OBS and Aitum are set up I start the OBS Virtual Camera. Then I open Streamlabs Ultra.

Make sure you link all your accounts by clicking settings and clicking "Stream" or by going here.

Now in Streamlabs Ultra, I add a video capture device source and I choose the OBS virtual camera. I then add my microphone and speakers to Streamlabs along with an alerts source.

Now I go live on TikTok from Aitum and I head back to Streamlabs Ultra where I can stream to 7 different platforms in landscape mode.
